The list of Eurostars is a long one. But does Dirk’s championship put him over the top? Most of Twitter thought so, but we weren’t convinced.
A fierce debate ensued. In the end, we picked our number one. As usual, tell us why we’re wrong in the comments section; that’s what it’s there for.
Now it’s time to do the following: subscribe on iTunes for FREE and once you’re done there, you can sort through the rest of the raps and podcasts right here.
As a German I go with Dirk though you’ve got some pretty good points for Arvydas.
Where I disagree is the talk about impact – you just can’t compare Germany and Lithuania. Germany is the biggest european country (in terms of population), 25 times bigger than Lithuania in this regard. Furthermore, in Germany Basketball is nearly inexistent in public perception, while in Lithuania it’s number 1 by far!
To me it is even more of a accomplishment and a plus on Dirk’s side that he managed to come from a non basketball country like Germany and have a career like he does.
And you’re right, he’s as clutch as it gets.
PS: Why did you miss out on Bodiroga, shouldn’t he be in this conversation when guys like Kukoc/Schrempf/Smits are?
We threw this cast together last minute, and knew we’d leave out some serious contenders. We definitely should’ve given Bodirgoa some more love, and if we ever formalize some sort of list, we will in the future. Thanks for listening man, and keep on comin’ back.
Someone I work with visits your site quite often and recommended it to me to read also. The writing style is excellent and the content is relevant. Thanks for the insight you provide the readers!
