Our friends over at SportandoBasket are reporting that Kiwi Kirk Penney has a deal in place to play for Spanish side Fuenlabrada. About time. Nothing against the NBL, but Penney’s proven all he can in Oceania, this season dropping 20 per game with the New Zealand Breakers.
You might remember Penney from the 2010 FIBA World Championships, where he was second in the competition with 24.7 ppg behind only Luis Scola (27.1) over the course of the tournament. If that’s not enough to jog your memory (but really, it should be), he also played four years for the Wisconsin Badgers between 1999-2003, averaging 16 points and 6 boards in his senior season.
Without further ado, I give you the Tall Blacks’ rendition of the ancient South Pacific ritual, The Haka. Tell me you’re not intimidated. Shout out to Pero Cameron.
